National Grid Lockout

If you haven't heard the details, the United Steelworkers Union Locals 12003 and 12012 have been locked out by National Grid. The contract for these union workers expired on June 24th. The workers asked to continue working on their current contract until negotiations were settled. At a union meeting, the workers voted to authorize a strike, should they need it during the negotiation process. The next day, the workers were locked out of their jobs.

The contract proposals by National Grid would be devastating to the workers and their family with huge cuts to wages, healthcare and retirement.

In the mean time, National Grid has hired inexperienced workers and management staff to continue the critical work of maintaining gas lines for homes, schools, and businesses.
